Iron Log #3
Hi everyone, today is the third dev log for this game which means it's officially a series of posts!
Since last post I've been working on knocking out some features that are needed for an alpha release. These are small features like using up items from your inventory when placing a building in the world. Or being able to look at items on a belt and pick them up off the belt directly. I added a personal chest/container that you can build and place in the world to store stuff. It's small and doesn't connect to belts so there is limited use but it's good for early game. A larger storage container will come later that can connect to belts. I also added a very simple death and respawn mechanic when you get killed. Your inventory is dropped into a personal storage chest that spawns when you die so you'll be able to get your stuff back.
Next I got tired of looking at the default unreal engine character so I added a new one along with a set of movement animations to go with him. For now he is called The Engineer. This took a few days since I've rarely worked with animations and had to learn a bunch of new stuff in unreal. It's looking much better now though and I'm happy with the results.
As always, thanks for reading and head over to the discord to learn more https://discord.gg/xmmPeZHj4T
