Iron Log #18 - Progress


Hey everyone,

Welcome back to another dev log for Belts of Iron!

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been re-working the enemy AI and making a few smaller improvements. See the full release notes below. Notably shift-clicking item stacks to transfer them between inventories. That should all work a little better now. You can also right click to pick up half a stack and right click to drop one into a slot.

The simple gun turret got some love too. There is a new model and shooting behavior. Check it out in action below!

Steam

I’ve been working on the assets and details needed for a Steam Page, I was hoping on getting it released this week but it’s taking longer than expected. Fingers crossed for next week! Once the page is live you’ll be able to wishlist it. And once I release it in Early Access anyone that’s purchased the game here will be able to claim a steam key.

Release Notes v0.0.11

  • Updated enemy AI. Enemies don’t spawn unless you approach or build near an enemy hive.
  • Enemies should be slightly smarter when it comes to picking what to attack. If they are attacking a building and you attack them, they should switch to attacking the player.
  • Updated turret graphics and behavior to shoot at the closest enemy or hive.
  • Added the damage bonus modifier to all player weapons.
  • Improved the logic when shift-clicking items in inventory.
  • Added animation to the mining drills.
  • Removed jiggle effect when harvesting resources, replaced it with debris particles.
